MAFALDA SANTOS
Mafalda Santos (1980) has a bachelor’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (2004). Between 2000 and 2007 she was the Director and organizer of PêSSEGOpráSEMANA, Porto independent exhibition space dedicated to visual arts, performance, video and musical projects (with André Sousa and Miguel Carneiro).
In 2007-2008 she won a scholarship by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Fundação Luso Americana para o Desenvolvimento for an Artistic Residency in Location One (New York). She also won the “Aveiro Young Creators First Prize in video” (2000) and she was selected for EDP Young Artists Award in 2007.
Amongst her solo exhibitions we can highlight “The Great Unconformity” – Sala do Veado, Museu de História Natural, Lisbon. And from her group exhibitions: “Them or Us!” – Galeria Municipal do Porto (2017); “Portugal em Flagrante”, Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon (2016).
Mafalda Santos’ work is represented in public and private collections: António Cachola (MACE); Fundação EDP; Ilídio Pinho; RAR; Fundação PLMJ; Câmara Municipal de Lisboa.
