Carlos Mensil

Carlos Mensil (Santo Tirso, 1988) lives and works in Porto.

In 2012, he undertook a Master’s Degree in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (Portugal) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Plastic Arts at the same college in 2010. In 2015, he won the “Prémio IPDJ” at the XVIII Bienal de Cerveira, and the year before he received the First Prize during the VIII Bienal de Arte Jovem de Vila Verde.

He has been exhibiting since 2010 in several solo and group exhibitions, such as “And from the dust it shall return” at Travessa da Ermida, Lisbon; “Síntese Activa” at Fórum Arte, Braga; “Handle with care – Portuguese projects” – Instituto Camões, Centro Cultural Português, Luxembourg (2018); “Pensar no vazio” – Galeria Presença, Porto (2018); "15 Minutos de fama" -  Extéril, Porto (2017); "Lugares de viagem" -  Biennial of Maia, Maia (2015); "Variações de Temperatura" - Collective exhibition of Visual Arts, Palácio das Artes, Porto (2012).

Carlos Mensil’s work is represented in public and private collections in Portugal and abroad, such as Fundação Bienal de Arte de Cerveira, Câmara Municipal de Vila Verde, COTEC Portugal, Galila Barzilai Collection and Donna MacMillan collection.
